At Here For The Drama, our unique approach focuses on straight acting, using modern tools, and offering holistic support throughout your journey—both for parents and students. What sets us apart is our direct interaction with industry professionals, casting directors, and our partnerships with leading agents, providing unparalleled exposure.
With a heavy emphasis on screen training using industry-standard recording equipment, we prepare you not just for the stage but for the diverse challenges of the entertainment industry. We provide an immersive experience that combines creative fun with practical insight.
However, the thing that truly does set us apart, is our genuine care for each student, providing personalised attention both in and out of the classroom.
HFTD is not just an acting academy; it's a supportive community, dedicated to fostering individual growth and success. At Here For The Drama, we're not just a school; we're a family!
HFTD was founded by actress Milly Zero. Milly is most famously known for playing the role of Dotty Cotton in BBC’S Eastenders, among other stage and screen projects, but she actually started professionally at the age of thirteen. She played co-lead ‘Hannah’ in hit CBBC sitcom ‘All At Sea’.
Why did we start HFTD?
A word from our CEO, Milly-
“As a child actor, I was armed with passion but I was lacking comprehensive training and knowledge. The industry demanded more than the 'triple threat' classes I attended. Auditions, agents, screen training were all areas I knew nothing about. I had to learn through trial and error, often with little support.
During lockdown, a collaboration with Bonnie and Betty's clients, the leading talent agency I was with in my own childhood, running self-tape workshops, opened my eyes. Running workshops for kids and teens, focusing on industry essentials, proved transformative. That experience fuelled a thought – what if this level of training was available every week for kids and teens?
Securing life-changing opportunities
HFTD is in the midst of expansion, opening new locations regularly. We view this growth as a reflection of the meaningful results we've been fortunate to witness and are sincerely grateful for the journey. Our collaborations with respected agents involve recommending students for representation year-round. The successes of these students, ranging from West End performances to engagements with major broadcasters such as Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Sky, BBC, ITV, and others, are truly remarkable.
Some students choose further education, and we support them on that journey, securing places in full-time training institutions like The BRIT School, which I myself attended as a teenager.
Drama sparks our passion
However, the most gratifying aspect is witnessing our students' tremendous personal growth. Many have transitioned from social anxiety to confidently performing live in front of large audiences, or on set in front of a professional crew. That's the transformative power of drama.
For me, drama gave me everything I needed growing up, and I'm passionate about spreading that joy and knowledge.
We are trying to help you understand the reality of the industry and reclaim the power for yourself. We believe in creating a community. We offer an experience where you're not just a student but a valued part of our company. It's about empowering our students to navigate the industry with confidence, knowledge, and genuine passion.”
